The first spark of Solid Surface material production and the related industry emerged in the early years of 1963 at DuPont, led by a professional and innovative team. This six-member team was responsible for exploring new technologies in building products for commercial applications, and Dr. Don Slocum was the only research chemist in this group, overseeing the kitchen and bathroom section of the project.
The first Solid Surface material was invented by Dr. Slocum in the laboratory, and it was registered under the commercial name Corian in October 1968. Consequently, this material is still commonly known as Corian today.
Even though more than 40 years have passed since the introduction of this material and advancements have been made in technology, formulation, and the manufacturing process of this material, much of the information available for introducing it remains similar to that from 40 years ago.
From the manufacturers' perspective, the last 20 years have produced innovations and improvements in the quality of this material and its products, as well as in the tools, machinery, and other manufacturing essentials related to it (such as adhesives and specialized sandpapers). From the designers' and architects' viewpoint, these innovations have opened new horizons for overcoming limitations and unlimited exploration of design ideas using this material.
Some of the most important advantages of the solid surface produced by Atistone include:
Atistone Solid Surface is produced in sheets with a width of 76 centimeters, a length of 3.68 meters, and a thickness of 12 millimeters. It also has the capability to mold and create specific surfaces such as various sinks, washbasins, and even different types of decorative sculptures.
To order the purchase and installation of Atistone solid surface sheets, you can visit the central office and showroom of Atistone located in Tehran, Aghdasieh, Army Highway, Shahr-e-Shahr Commercial and Administrative Complex, Unit 703. After selecting your desired color code and signing the contract, a company representative will visit the project site for measurements and to take the work plans. It is important to note that prior to the representative's visit for the measurements, all unit cabinets must be installed and secured in place. Additionally, the sink and cooktop must be purchased and ready for installation.
After the measurements and precise sizing are taken, the custom sheets will be produced and installed at the project site within the time frame agreed upon in the contract.
Maintaining Atistone solid surfaces is as straightforward as caring for any polished and hard surfaces. Avoiding direct flame heat near Corian surfaces and preventing sharp or cutting objects from coming into contact with their surface are essential points in the care of Atistone solid surfaces. Even if scratches occur, the Atistone solid surface can be restored to its original condition with a simple polish.
A crucial point in the installation of solid surface materials is to schedule the installation of the solid surfaces as the final step in the kitchen preparation process. This is important because any execution work by technical teams, such as cabinet installation or tiling, can lead to accidents and damage to these surfaces.
