Why I Chose Corian Stone for My Kitchen?

Corian stone surfaces are a smart choice for enhancing the beauty of kitchens and are used on countertops.

My partner and I recently bought an apartment. Unfortunately, the kitchen countertop was made of old ceramics and was faded, which really didn’t convey a good feeling. The other parts of the kitchen also left much to be desired. Therefore, we decided to renovate the kitchen to fit our taste. Most of the cabinet surfaces that I had to deal with were uneven, difficult to clean, and attracted dust and stains like a magnet.

Thus, selecting the countertop was the first item we added to our kitchen renovation list. The options available for the countertop were very similar. There were stainless steel surfaces that were easy to clean but felt cold and lifeless to us, or MDF surfaces that were beautiful and stylish but swelled and distorted over time due to contact with water.

Choosing the type of stone

Similarly, there were granite stones that were expensive and shiny, but I had heard that they have open pores and need to be periodically replaced to prevent the absorption of bacteria and stains.

None of the above options were exactly suitable for us. I cook a lot and while I want my kitchen to always be clean, I don’t always have enough time for it. Therefore, I needed something that was durable and stable, easy to clean, and could maintain its beautiful appearance over time. After the research I conducted, I finally chose Corian. A stone that is extremely durable, incredibly hard, even harder than granite.

The sound of dishes clattering against the countertop that caused scratches always annoyed me, and I had gotten used to placing dishes softly on the surface. But now, with Corian in my kitchen, maybe after a few weeks, I can break this habit.

Even though Corian is not a natural stone, it has many supporters, and since it’s not as hard as stone, you won’t have to endure the annoying noise you previously experienced from placing items on the surface.

Beautiful kitchen using Corian stone

Another feature of Corian surfaces is easy repairability, so if a scratch occurs on the countertop, it can be easily repaired by sanding or rubbing a compound with a spatula over the affected area.

It’s worth mentioning that this stone is much more durable than Formica (a type of plastic material). With all these advantages, we chose Corian for the countertop, and it has been the main part of the beauty of our kitchen decor for several months now.
